The Two ‘Eid Prayers
On the two days of ‘Eid, it is wâjib to
perform two rak’ât of prayer after sunrise, again in congregation and
followed by a khutbah. The ‘Eid prayers are usually held at a large
prayer ground or field. Other than the two rak’ât of the ‘Eid
prayer, it is not permissible to perform any other nafl prayers at the
prayer ground:
The Prophet (
)
went out on the day of Fitr and prayed two rak’ât and did not
pray anything before them or after them. [T-522]
