The Story of ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Auf

‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Auf ( - Allah be pleased with him) was born in Makkah ten years after the year of the Elephant. He was from the tribe of the Quraysh. His mother’s name was Shifa bin ‘Auf.

‘Abdur Rahman became a Muslim when he was 30 years old. Then, Muhammad announced his name in Ashara Mubash-shara [the 10 blessed companions who were promised Paradise].

On one occasion the Prophet Muhammad had offered one rak’ah of prayer under his Imamat.

Hadrat ‘Abdur Rahman migrated from Makkah to Madinah and started his business and became the wealthiest merchant in Madinah.

During the battle of Uhud, he got 21 wounds. He died in Madinah at the age of 72. He left after him 1000 camels, 100 horses, 300 goats and lot of gold and cash. He left 20 sons and 8 daughters.
